WE ARE
Tokyo Skytree is a passionate group of volunteers dedicated to improving the lives of animals in distress. Through collaboration with our communities, we work tirelessly to:
-
Facilitate Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs to humanely manage feral cat populations.
-
Find loving homes for adoptable animals, giving them a second chance at happiness.
-
Conduct community outreach and education, empowering individuals to help animals in need.
-
Advocate for animal welfare, driving meaningful change for the most vulnerable.
If you’re inspired to make a difference, we’d love to have you join our mission! Visit our Take Action page to learn more about how you can help. Together, we can create a brighter future for animals in need.
TEAM MEMBERS.
A Lifelong Rescuer and Advocate for Cats
Jay, a full-time registered nurse case manager and dedicated cat rescuer, started her journey when she noticed every female cat in a Forest Hills colony was pregnant. She successfully TNR’d the entire colony and found loving homes for the kittens, balancing her career with her passion for rescue work.
Kerry Portnoy
Rescuer
Kerry is passionate about helping animals at Skytree, where he assists with rescuing, fostering, and coordinating adoptions, along with managing TNR programs. When he's not caring for kittens, he works full-time as a Sanitation Worker. Despite his busy schedule, Kerry's best friend at home is his beloved furry son, Raf.
Dorin Chueng
System Analyst
Dorin oversees the technical aspects of Skytree, including website enhancements, hosting, security, backups, email domain, and automation. As a System Analyst, he ensures everything runs smoothly. He and his wife Evette share their home with two very special feline companions, Kerry and Josh.
Larry Barksiy
Volunteer
Larry has dedicated many years to rescuing cats in his neighborhood, single-handedly adopting, TNR’ing, and caring for hundreds of cats. Outside of his rescue work, Larry enjoys playing the piano in his spare time. His passion for both music and animals makes him a unique and inspiring individual.
Josh Chertoff
Volunteer
Josh, a retired janitor, is now able to dedicate his time to supporting Tokyo Skytree's mission. Though his three cats were adopted from a shelter in Brooklyn, New York, Josh remains deeply committed to helping the felines of Brooklyn. His cats wholeheartedly support and encourage his ongoing efforts to rescue and care for their fellow cats.
Evette Fleming
Volunteer Manager
Evette is passionate about her work at Skytree, where she helps with rescuing, coordinating fosters and adoptions, and carrying out TNR. While she loves every kitty she meets, her best friends at home are her furry companions—Josh, Kerry, and Jay.
